The development of KATGIS has priority in the current research
projects. KATGIS is a strict, object-oriented,
workflow-controlled application for the Smallworld GIS, based
on the new data modell ALKIS7 which is used for the keeping of
a cadastre. In particular, a homogenization of general
Smallworld-objects (also for other applications than KATGIS),
called KATHOM, which can be configurated independently, is
developed in addition to tools for the analysis, keeping and
data output of ALKIS7 objects.

Development of the digital photogrammetric evalutation system
PHIDIAS: PHIDIAS completely integrated into the 3D-CAD-system
MicroStation and is used for many different surveying tasks in
architecture, archeology, preservation of monuments, industry
and criminalistics.
-
Non-standard data bank systems: conception and development of
persistent object-storages for OO-languages such as C++. The
prototype of a persistent object-storage for C++developed here
serves as centre (?) of the OODBMS, which shall be used for
information management in information systems, especially for
GIS.
-
Semantic modelling: development and implementation of a system
for the automated analysis of (hand-written) reduced-scale
drawings. The system is used for the automated recognition of
objects in reduced scale-drawings (such as survey points,
buildings, land parcels, etc.) and for their transformation
into a digital form. These objects are then processed by means
of geo-information-systems (GIS).
-
Statistics and adjustment computation: the adjustment program
KAFKA is used and developed for the analysis and evaluation of any
kind of geodetic survey, from the orthogonal survey/survey by
quasi-perpendiculars (?) to GPS-surveys. KAFKA processes 18 different
observation types (?) and delivers plausible coordinates with a good
quality of neighbourhood

In order to homogenize digital cadastral maps or power supply
maps, the system KATHOM is developed and maintained. It
produces homogeneous maps taking geometric constraints into
account and can also be applied to changes of reference
system. The system is able to derive with coordinates with a
good quality of neighbourhood.
